Paul once measured himself by the Law and could claim righteousness by its standards. But when he came to know Christ, he realized that true righteousness does not come from keeping the Law, but through faith in Jesus Christ. The Law exposes sin but cannot save. Though we know right from wrong, we cannot achieve the perfection required to stand before God. Christ took upon Himself the penalty we deserved, freeing us from reliance on the Law and giving us a righteousness that comes from Him alone.
