When we are called to serve, we are working not for our own benefit but for the fulfillment of God’s will. So when He blesses us, whether through financial gain, health, or acts of kindness, we must recognize those blessings as gifts from Him. How then could we justify withholding them from His purposes?
God’s gifts are not limited to monetary gain. If you have received kindness, encouragement, or help from others, those are blessings from God, too. And just as you have been blessed, you are called to bless others in return. “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:38).
If we act out of selfishness instead of returning God’s generosity to further His ministry, we risk becoming like the Israelites in the wilderness, wandering without direction because we have placed our trust in our own judgment rather than seeking the Lord’s guidance. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6).
When you feel lost, take time to listen. Can you still hear God’s voice directing you? If not, perhaps you have moved so far from His will that His voice is drowned out by the noise of the dysfunction you have created. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).
