November 29, 2020 – When Isiah mentions the coming of the Christ, he calls him the Wonderful Counselor. What does this mean? In study bible texts, a counselor is referenced as ‘exceptional, distinguished, and without peer, the one who gives the right advice’. As we begin the advent season, we must remember that this season is celebrating the expectant arrival of Jesus and the light that He would become to a dark world, then and today. While studying his words, we can glean a great deal of instruction on how to properly live our lives but what about the challenges that we face daily. Pastor Jonathan reminds us that in many places in scripture, a gift is mentioned. A gift of the Holy Spirit which, in effect, becomes our counselor. Christ is in us and we are in Him, bound by the Holy Spirit and it is this that gives us our daily instruction. We only need to use it. Isaiah 9:6-7
