This week, an assassin’s bullet cut short the young life of a man who wore his faith unashamedly and with purpose. His platform gave him the ability to speak against the cultural rot occurring in our nation. He also defended his belief in a risen Savior and exposed the myths and lies of the Evil One.

Make no mistake in thinking this act of murder was only the work of a single individual. Yes, one man pulled the trigger. But the Evil One has been sowing division and hatred long before this day. Often that division is cloaked in acts that appear to be love. Satan uses good people to do bad things. His lies influence people to silence God’s Word and the saving grace of Christ Jesus through His death, burial, and resurrection. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

When Charlie Kirk was asked how he would like to be remembered, he said he would like to be remembered as a man of faith, as a follower of Christ. While many disagreed with him, and some even celebrated his death, we are seeing a growing evangelical movement among young people that far surpasses what he hoped to create.

The works of Satan attempt to silence God’s people, but he fails because God cannot be silenced. “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12). While Charlie is no longer with us, he is still speaking through the lives that were changed, through those who were taught by his message of faith and hope, and through the testimony of defeating the evil that seeks not to heal but to destroy.
