In today’s scripture, we see ‘blameless’ Zechariah and Elizabeth being granted their deepest desire: a child. In doing so, God is also preparing the way for the Messiah, fulfilling scripture while answering prayer. John prepared the way for Jesus, who was the answered prayer for millions lost in the darkness of sin.
