The Breastplate of Righteousness – August 31st 2025

In the midst of our journey with God, we are under attack by the forces of the Evil One, whose power is rooted in an immoral and corrupt world. Many of the temptations we face come disguised, appearing harmless because they do not seem to hurt anyone, or excused as simply part of cultural norms. Yet even if these acts make us appear good, they do not make us righteous. To have eternal life, we must be righteous, and only the blood of Christ Jesus can make us blameless before God. When we surrender our lives to Him, we no longer conform to cultural norms but live in obedience to Christ’s teachings. These teachings are timeless truths anchored in the love that sent Him to the cross on our behalf. Paul closes his letter to the Ephesians by urging believers to stand against the Evil One by putting on the armor of God, including the breastplate of righteousness. In essence, he reminds us that we are righteous not by our own works but because Christ has made us so. Through Him, we are shielded by an impenetrable defense against every attack of the enemy.
